EPL week 13:Ronaldo double puts United on top

Manchester United FC moved to the top of the Premier League after victory against Blackburn Rovers FC on a busy day when a late goal by Tim Cahill earned Everton FC a point against Chelsea FC and Aston Villa FC beat west Midlands rivals Birmingham City FC.

Ronaldo double
Two quick goals by Cristiano Ronaldo in the first half proved enough to earn Manchester United maximum points against Blackburn at Old Trafford. The Portuguese international headed his first on 34 minutes before scoring with a right-footed shot just a minute later. Blackburn's misery was completed when David Dunn was sent off for two yellow cards eight minutes into the second half. The win moved United three points clear of Arsenal FC, although the London club can move back to the summit with victory against Reading FC on Monday.

Late drama
Australian international midfielder Cahill struck with a spectacular overhead kick in the final minute at Stamford Bridge to extend Everton's unbeaten run in all competitions to six games as they drew 1-1 with Chelsea. Avram Grant' side had taken the lead in the 70th minute when Didier Drogba headed in a corner but the UEFA Champions League contenders had to settle for a point, which was enough to take them up to third in the table, while Everton remain in ninth.

Villa joy
Sunday's lunchtime game between Birmingham and Aston Villa was decided three minutes from time by Gabriel Agbonlahor, who flicked in a header to earn a 2-1 win for the visitors. Villa had led after eleven minutes following a Liam Ridgewell own goal before Finnish striker Mikael Forssell equalised with a powerful header. Elsewhere, Tottenham Hotspur FC claimed a welcome three points with a 4-0 win against Wigan Athletic FC to move up to 14th while Bolton Wanderers FC stay in the relegation zone afer drawing 0-0 against Middlesbrough FC. Manchester City FC remain third after their visit to Portsmouth FC also ended goalless.
